"Adobe Photoshop Batch Notes"

By: James "PhotoJ"

ADOBE PHOTOSHOP BATCH NOTES:

I have lots of models ask me how to resize images that they receive after a shoot. If you have lots of photos on a cd you dont want to waste time resizing each and every one.. I generally give models a cd with several different size images on a cd to save headache, but for those models out there that have a cd of raw images this should help.

These notes are steps to take for the Adobe PhotoShop program. It will create a batch job that will automatically resize all your photos.

This is the "how to create a batch job":
Open Adobe Photoshop
Go to the “Actions” menu.
Create a new action.
(All steps to follow will be recorded by Photoshop, you can delete steps if needed) Open an image (browse your computer)
Make changes to the image. (Such as rotate, resizing a photo to Height 400 etc..)
Save the image.
Then press the “stop button” on the Action.

To run the batch:
I recommend adding 2 folders to your desktop. Name one SourcePhotos & the other DestinationPhotos.
Add the photos you want to run the batch job on to the folder SourcePhotos.
Click the name of the Action you want to run. (The action you just created)
Then Go to File, Automate, Batch
Select Source (Folder)
Choose the folder named SourcePhotos on your desktop.
Click the box: Override Action “Opens” Commands.
Click the box: Suppress Color Profile Warnings
Choose the destination (Folder)
Choose the folder named DestinationPhotos on your desktop.
Click the box: Override Action “Save As” Commands
Press the OK button to start the batch..
Your photos will be run through the script and saved to the DestinationPhotos folder..

p.s.
You will usually need to tweak the “action” if extra steps were accidentally included. You want the action procedure to be clean.
Ex. If you resize an image to 500, then 400, etc you want to delete the resize to 500 step on the action.
