SHOOT NOTES:

THE FOLLOWING ARE SOME TYPICAL TYPES OF SHOTS SOUGHT IN THE PROGRESS OF A SHOOT. THIS IS SOMETHING TO KEEP IN MIND PREPARING FOR THE SHOOT, AND TO HELP YOU SELECT WHAT YOU MAY WANT TO BRING FOR A SHOOT ESPECIALLY A TFP SHOOT.

Notes: Before the Shoot-

1. Time: You won't be rushed. If you don't have at least two hours set aside that day, you may want to reschedule for a day that you have more time. A beginner's portfolio may take up to four hours, if done in one session. I would say time wise make sure that you have plenty of time that day and wont need to rush the shoot. I like to schedule shoots after noon. Most shoots last 2 to 3 hours. Any day that looks like it will rain or snow will need to be rescheduled, cloudy days are actually good shooting days. Clouds diffuse the sun, preventing harsh glare and shadows.

2. Make-up: Bring your makeup kit to the portfolio session. You will do your own makeup. In most beginning and intermediate modeling jobs, there is no makeup artist, and so you are expected to do your own makeup. However, if you have not improved your makeup skills sufficiently, use or request a makeup artist.

3. *Wardrobe*: The photographer varies his style and alters settings so that the photographs do not appear too uniform. For this bring enough outfits and shoes for at least six changes. From that large a wardrobe selection you can match a outfit to any particular shoot location. When planning your wardrobe for the shoot remember to bring a lot of different clothing selections. On shoot day, the more clothing that
you bring the better clothing options you will have to match or contrast with color and style with the different settings we may cross during the shoot. Most people bring a
suitcase with a number of different options and a small carrying bag where they place one outfit likely to be used
at one location.

4. Hair: It is best to try different hairstyles. Instead of wearing hair down, using clips or pins or even gel, to be able to have 3 different looks for the shoot. (Having several looks is a key to your portfolio and agencies look for).

5. Eyes: Using "Visine" eye drops just prior to leaving for a shoot makes a dramatic impact on close ups shots.

Notes: During the Shoot-

1. Note: The photographer plans to use plenty of film, between three to five rolls of 24 exp, 35-millimeter. So for a beginning shoot you have about 120 opportunities to have varying expressions or present different modeling or posing ideas. don't wait towards the end to try new things, present your ideas at any time. If the photographer shoots digital, you can pace yourself based on the photographers use of memory cards.

2. Time: You will be given ample opportunity to work on your hair and makeup every time you change into another outfit, don't feel rushed to jump back into the shoot. Make sure everything-hair make-up, wardrobe are perfect before returning to the shoot.

3. Vary your expressions during the session.

4. Check your makeup and hair often.

Wardrobe Suggestions:
These are just a few suggestions. Use your own personal preference style and imagination. Also accessories are always a valuable addition.
